Nashville, Tennessee, July, 2010 - Poklonnaya Gora, a World War II memorial in Moscow, Russia recently selected One Systems direct weather loudspeakers to replace their outdated, speech-only system.
With the 65th Anniversary of Russia's victory with the Allied Forces in World War II fast approaching, Poklonnaya Gora's curators began looking into an upgrade of their current system. After enduring their original system for over 10 years, they realized that an upgrade was desperately needed before the special anniversary celebrations began this year. Avallon Ltd. of Moscow was contracted for the new sound system installation.
The memorial includes a museum, a mile-long walkway, rides, fountains, restaurants and cafes. The area also includes a military theme park where children can explore World War II tanks and other equipment, giving them an insight into the period.
Moscow's weather features frequent thunderstorms in the summer and heavy snowfall in the winter. Avallon Ltd. knew that excellent weatherproofing was needed for this installation to be successful. "Our goal was to provide high intelligibility, full-bandwidth audio throughout the park, with a system that could withstand the elements on a day-in, day-out basis. We, along with the memorial's curators are very pleased with the sound and indeed the entire project," says Sergey Vashchenko of Avallon Ltd.
The installation called for twenty (20) One Systems 212IM-100 100-volt loudspeakers covering distances of 164 - 263 feet between the speakers. Vashenko adds, "The speakers are mounted on existing poles throughout the complex, which was a challenge because the power amplifiers are located a good distance from each speaker. This limited us to wiring above ground to the poles, but the clarity, projection and vocal intelligibility of the One Systems speakers are incredible and our client couldn't be happier."
This is the third major installation for One Systems in Russia. One Systems President Doug MacCallum says, "We are very pleased to be working with Avallon Ltd. as the One Systems distributor in Russia and for being a part of such an historic memorial. This installation and collaboration with Avallon Ltd. shows our continued efforts to expand our global reach and to become the world's leading manufacturer of direct weather speaker systems."
